Build a userbase with a compelling product. Unless platform properties once critical mass is achieved. E.g amazon -> AWS, Figma -> plugins, Browser -> plugins.
For platforms from the get-go some incentives may be needed, e.g
- DeFi - liquidity mining, airdrops,
- Uber/Lyft - subsidize rides, undercut competitors
